Henry Vanderbilt announced on the arocket mail list that the Space Access '08 conference will be March 27-29, 2008 in Phoenix. The details are at the Space Access Society web site. So, for those who haven't heard of it, what is the Space Access conference all about?
I have notes and photos from Space Access '07 on my personal web site. The conference is about lowering costs of access to space to commercially-economical levels. It started in 1993 as what was then thought to be a one-time conference of academics called "Making Orbit '93". But the group came up with so many good ideas that they decided to keep meeting each year. Amateur rocketry projects have reported on their progress and experiences. Some of the amateur projects and conference proposals have become companies. And some of those companies have started flying their own hardware. And the conference has evolved into a NewSpace industry convention. If you think the topic sounds interesting and that's a good direction for the industry to go, you might be interested in attending.
